The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Basically, the zone is the collection of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL in an Internet browser, your computer asks the DNS servers globally where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain address must be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain name is so that the latter is mapped to an Internet protocol address and the site content is required from the correct location, a mail relay server finds out which server manages the e-mails for the domain address (MX record) so that a message can be delivered to the appropriate mailbox, and so on. Any modification of these sub-records is performed through the company whose name servers are used, so that you can keep the website hosting and switch only your email provider for instance. Each domain has a minimum of two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix such as NS or DNS.

NS Records in Cloud Web Hosting

When you use a cloud web hosting from our company and you include a new domain within the account or transfer an existing one from a different company, you will be able to handle its NS records easily via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with all shared accounts. You'll be able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain or even for a number of domain addresses simultaneously with several mouse clicks. This is done via the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that's a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to control your domain even if it's the first one you've ever registered. It requires only a mouse click to see what name servers a domain address uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to direct a domain to the hosting space on our end and with only a couple of clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for each of the domain names that you own. For the latter option you can use the IP addresses of each provider that you'd like the new NS records to forward to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The name servers for any domain name that's registered through us may be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks from the sophisticated, though easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel that comes with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as simple to see the current NS records for a given domain and to check if they are the ones that are necessary for the domain name to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to enable you to control any domain with ease even if you have never dealt with such matters before. If you want, you can also register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain name under which they're set up, but also for any other domain address that you'd like to host inside the same account. This option is very useful if you have clients of your own and you wish their websites to use your own name servers instead of our default ones. The service is available totally free.
