SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is employed to validate if an e-mail message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests if it originates from an official server. When it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, but if it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it look as if you are distributing spam. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud web hosting account on our end and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in a section of its own where you'll be able to view which domains are currently secured. For those that aren't, you will be able to enable the SPF protection solution and configure various things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, but you can use it if we take care of the email addresses for your domain names and do not use some other e-mail provider. The newly generated records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you are able to benefit from the SPF protection feature as part of the regular collection of services that you will have with this kind of hosting. Enabling the protection involves just a couple of simple steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, so even if you haven't used such a feature before, you will not have any kind of problems. Through an exceptionally intuitive interface, you will simply have to input the information of the mail server that will be certified to send messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the recently generated record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email address for that particular domain and send messages from a server different from the one you've entered. This doesn't specifically have to be our mail server, still in case we take care of your email messages, you're able to allow an additional level of protection by choosing an option that emails can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support crew can assist you 24/7 in case you have any questions related to this service.
